For all of his popularity, Phil Kessel isn’t the type of athlete to, say, post a picture of lunch on Instagram. Or riff about Pittsburgh drivers on Snapchat. He talks hockey and otherwise mostly keeps to himself.
Perhaps that’s why we didn’t have much intel on his true feelings about frankfurters almost three years after the Toronto Sun’s Steve Simmons infamously painted him as a hot dog munching shlub when he was traded to the Penguins from the Maple Leafs.
Until Wednesday.
Sister Amanda Kessel, a member of the U.S. women’s hockey team that won the gold medal at the Winter Olympics last month, fielded questions from fans via Twitter and said Phil is more of a casual fan of the tubed meat.
