Pens prospects’ goal: avoid ending up on Rasmus Dahlin highlight reel

After two games of getting pounded, the Penguins prospect team concludes their activity in Buffalo today with a 12:30 game against the hometown Sabres. The Pittsburgh team, devoid of much top-end talent, has been out-scored 10-0 early in their two games and 10-4 overall. While perhaps brass can take some individual coaching points for expected minor leaguers this year, they’re not very competitive.

Today’s challenge figures to possibly be the toughest of all, as #1 overall pick in 2018 Rasmus Dahlin has made this into his debut showcase. As he should, he’s going to be a very good NHL player from Day 1 and he’s playing against competition that’s 18-24 years old and mostly minor league/junior caliber players.
