Looking to close out Round 1 on home ice for the second straight season the Penguins got off to a roaring start against the Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 5. Up 3-0 before the midway point of the game the Pens were closing in on the second round but the Blue Jackets did not go quietly, fighting back to within one at 3-2. A questionable goaltender interference call wiped away a tying goal from Columbus and turned into a Sidney Crosby power play goal that started to lower the Jacket’s coffin. The three goal lead was restored a few minutes later and the Pens went into lock down mode to close out a 5-2 victory and eliminate the Blue Jackets 4-1 to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
