A lackluster effort in the second period doomed the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night, falling to the Colorado Avalanche 6-4 and saw themselves swept in the home-and-home set against the best team in hockey at the moment. The teams were tied after 20 minutes, but two quick goals by the Avalanche in the second period gave the visitors a lead they never relinquished the rest of the way despite the Penguins efforts to mount a comeback.
