Pens move into 2nd in division with win; Crosby blanked in point pursuit

DENVER — Sidney Crosby didn’t get the two points he was after at the Pepsi Center tonight, but his team did.

The Penguins, thanks in part to a two-goal performance by right winger Patric Hornqvist, defeated Colorado, 4-1.

The victory raised the Penguins’ record to 34-13-6 and, coupled with Columbus’ 3-0 loss to Vancouver, allowed them to move into second place in the Metropolitan Division.

The Penguins are 4-0-1 in their past five games.

Crosby entered the game needing a pair of points to become the 86th player in NHL history to put up 1,000 in a career, but was shut out.
