SUNRISE, Fla. — The Penguins showed plenty of life in the second leg of a back-to-back, but couldn’t quite complete a third-period comeback against the Panthers as their six-game winning streak came to an end.
The Penguins overcame a two-goal deficit to tie the score late in the third period, but Florida winger Evgenii Dadonov completed a hat trick at 18:07 of the third to give the Panthers a 6-5 win.
Bryan Rust had tied the score three minutes earlier, and the Penguins seemed to have all the momentum. But Dadonov’s patient goal against Murray with less than two minutes left gave the Panthers the win.
