The Penguins have traded Conor Sheary and Matt Hunwick to the Buffalo Sabres for a draft pick, a source confirmed to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Wednesday.
The deal frees up $5.25 million in salary-cap space, which the Penguins needed to do.
The team has not yet announced the deal.
This will clear $5.25 million in cap space. Got Rust. Sheahan will be next, most likely. Then possibly Jack Johnson/Chris Kunitz Sunday. https://t.co/yleQM8H9X8

Some of that money will go to Sheahan and Oleksiak, presumably.
