The Penguins will face Washington in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Capitals clinched their spot opposite the Penguins today with a 1-0 victory in Philadelphia in Game 6 of their opening-round series against the Flyers.
The schedule for the series has not been released, and a Penguins official said it is not expected to be out today.
The series will pit two of the NHL’s marquee talents, Penguins center Sidney Crosby and Washington left winger Alex Ovechkin, against each other, and both lineups are liberally sprinkled with top players.
Washington won the Presidents’ Trophy by having the NHL’s best regular-season record and will have home-ice advantage.
