The NHL’s two best offensive teams over the past 10 games met Saturday at PPG Paints Arena.
Combined for eight goals in a highly entertaining, back-and-forth affair, too.
One that would be a hockey fan’s dream come playoff time.
And yet the suck-the-life-out-of-‘em third period put forth by the Penguins might’ve been the most memorable part of the Penguins’ 5-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, not only for the two goals the Penguins scored but for how little they afforded their offensively inclined opponent.
They wrestled the Leafs to the ground with a couple goals … and then quieted things down while keeping them there.
