Penguins sign Sestito to deal, hope to assign him to Wilkes-Barre Scranton

The Penguins signed left winger Tom Sestito to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal carries a salary cap hit of $575,000.

He will be placed on waivers at noon today. If he clears, he will be formally assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

To this point of the season, Sestito, 28, has played with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a professional tryout basis. In 19 AHL games, he has six points (two goals, four assists) and 35 penalty minutes.

He initially joined the Penguins on a professional tryout contract this past offseason. In three preseason games, he had no points and 15 penalty minutes.
