Penguins sign right winger Daniel Sprong

The Penguins locked up prospect Daniel Sprong today, their top pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Sprong, a right winger, signed a three-year, entry-level deal according to the club.

At 6-foot-8, 180 pounds, Sprong led the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in goals (39), assists (49), and points (88) this past season for the Charlottetown Islanders.

His standout season landed him at No. 20 on the NHL Central Scouting list for North American skaters.

He was considered a surprise score for the Penguins, who did not expect him to slide to the middle of the second round at the draft earlier this summer.
