The Penguins signed forward Freddie Tiffels to a two-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Thursday.
Tiffels, 22, was the team's sixth-round selection in the 2015 draft. As a junior at Western Michigan this season, he had nine goals and 12 assists, including two goals in the Broncos' NCAA tournament loss to Air Force.
In three years at Western Michigan, Tiffels had 27 goals and 32 assists.
His contract with the Penguins will start next season and run trough 2019. He becomes the third member of the team's 2015 draft class to sign, joining Daniel Sprong and Dominik Simon.
