Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford was a busy man Tuesday.
Rutherford “signed” five children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation to one-day contracts Tuesday morning.
Young fans from Make-A-Wish chapters in Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, South Carolina and the Atlantic Provinces of Canada got breakfast at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry, an up-close view of practice and some ice time with Penguins’ players when the session was over.
Sidney Crosby, Conor Sheary and Jake Guentzel were among the players who stayed out with the youngsters after practice was over.
After they were done skating, they had their own stalls with nameplates and team gear set up in the Penguins’ locker room.
