The Penguins on Tuesday announced a four-year contract extension for winger Bryan Rust that carries an average annual value of $3.5 million.
The deal runs through 2021-22.
Rust, 26, had 13 goals and set career-highs with 25 assists and 38 points in 69 games in 2017-18.
He was a restricted free agent and received a qualifying offer Monday, but it was assumed – general manager Jim Rutherford said earlier this offseason that he’d like to get this deal done – Rust would extend his stay in Pittsburgh.
