Penguins select forward Poulin in Round 1 of NHL draft

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The Penguins chose left wing Samuel Poulin with the 21st pick in the opening round of the NHL draft tonight at Rogers Arena.

Poulin had 29 goals and 47 assists in 67 games with the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the QMJHL in 2018-19.

Central scouting ranks Poulin as the No. 22 North American skater. His shot is one of his biggest strengths. He’s one of the bigger players in the draft physically at 6-feet-2, 207 pounds. He plays a very physical game.

Poulin is the son of Patrick Poulin, who played 634 games in the NHL from 1992-2002 with the Whalers, Blackhawks, Lightning, and Canadiens.
