The Penguins on Sunday afternoon recalled forward Josh Jooris from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
Jooris will likely assume the fourth-line spot of Carter Rowney, who will be out “longer-term” with an upper-body injury he suffered during a 5-3 victory at Montreal on Thursday.
In two games with the Penguins this season, Jooris has averaged 7:24 of ice time with three shots on goal. Jooris, acquired at the trade deadline for Greg McKegg, played 33 games with Carolina earlier this season, scoring three goals and totaling six points.
The Penguins are holding an off-ice workout Sunday. They return to practice Monday before playing the New York Islanders at Barclays Center on Tuesday.
