The Penguins recalled goaltender Matt Murray from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League and assigned defenseman David Warsofsky to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Murray's recall comes after starting goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury missed Saturday's 4-2 home loss to the Lightning due to an illness. Fleury's status for today's road game against the Sabres is not immediately known.
This is the second time Murray, 21, has been recalled this season. In December, he played four games and had a 2-1-1 record with a 1.72 goals against average and a .938 save percentage.
The team described Warsofsky's assignment to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as a long-term injury conditioning assignment.
