The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled goaltender Matt Murray from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
The Penguins also re-assigned defenseman David Warsofsky to WBS on a LTI conditioning assignment.
Murray, 21, played four NHL games with Pittsburgh earlier this season, going 2-1-1 with a 1.72 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage. He gave up two or less goals in all four starts.
The reigning AHL goaltender and rookie of the year, Murray has followed his strong debut with a fantastic sophomore campaign, going 19-9-1 with a 2.
