It’s no secret the Penguins have positions open on the fourth line when training camp opens in September, even if they craft a deal between now and then for a free agent or make an acquisition via trade.
Oskar Sundqvist, who nearly made the club out of camp a year ago, is a front runner for the center job, and Conor Sheary, Scott Wilson and Bryan Rust are in the mix for both wings along with free agent Kevin Porter.
“That’s the word on the street, that there are one or two openings deep in the lineup for younger forwards to take,” said Rust.
