PHILADELPHIA – The Penguins held off the Flyers in a critical 4-1 win Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Center.
The Flyers had surged to an 8-1-1 record heading into the game, and were threatening to make the Eastern Conference wild card race even tighter than it is.
Instead, the Penguins dominated, held their hated rival to just 17 shots, scored three unanswered second period goals and added an empty netter in the third.
The Penguins trailed 1-0 just 1:58 into the second period when a shot by Radko Gudas ping-ponged off of three players, and finally into the net off of Kris Letang.
