Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final between the Penguins and Predators was the third most watched Game 1 since NBC Sports began televising the Stanley Cup final in 2006, the network said Tuesday.
An average of 5.038 million viewers tuned in Monday night, up 22 percent from last year, when the Penguins and Sharks drew an average of 4.132 million. The Game 1 ratings trail only Boston-Chicago in 2013 and Chicago-Tampa Bay in 2015.
Game 1 also drew in more viewers than “The Bachelorette,” which aired on ABC at the same time, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
