The Penguins have placed forward Eric Fehr on waivers.
If he is not claimed by noon Wednesday, they would be free to send him to their American Hockey League team in Wilkes-Barre, although they would not be obliged to do so.
Fehr has one year left on a contract that carries a $2 million salary-cap hit.
The NHL trade deadline is 3 p.m. Wednesday, and it's possible that the Penguins waived Fehr to gain some roster flexibility.
