Penguins penalty kill riding a hot streak

For the first three weeks of November, the Penguins’ penalty kill was among the worst in the NHL, succeeding at just a 68.4 percent clip.

Since then, they’ve been much better. Over the last five games, they’ve killed 18 of 20 penalties for a 90 percent success rate.

So what changed?

“Obviously we needed to improve something,” Tom Kuhnhackl said. “There were a couple games there where we gave up a couple goals. We watched a lot of video. I think we’ve been keeping our shifts shorter so we can keep the pressure up. As of late we’ve done a pretty good job.
