BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Penguins coach Mike Sullivan drew a laugh Friday following his team’s morning skate at Barclays Center when he provided a one-word answer to a question.
“Yes,” Sullivan responded when asked whether he would like his team to shoot more.
It was funny because Sullivan is unbelievably articulate and will explain hockey better than almost any other NHL coach. Usually in plenty of words, too.
“I’ll bet if you ask 29 other coaches in the league they’d have the same answer,” Sullivan said.
Shooting the puck more is not something Sullivan would complain about, but he more specifically wants his players to actively think about shooting first rather waiting for something to open up or, worse, forcing a pass.
