Penguins notebook: Stalberg says no apology from Letang, but high-stick incident 'part of the game'

NEW YORK — Rangers left winger Viktor Stalberg left Game 3 against the Penguins missing three teeth.

He also apparently left without an apology from Kris Letang.

The Penguins defenseman swung and struck Stalberg’s head with his stick with 12:48 remaining in regulation of Tuesday’s Game 3 of the Penguins-Rangers first-round playoff series.

Letang said Tuesday he apologized to Stalberg for the high stick, which escaped penalty and supplemental discipline by the NHL.

Stalberg said otherwise.

“No, that’s not [true],” Stalberg said after Thursday’s morning skate. “I haven’t heard anything from him. Honestly, I [couldn’t] care less if he did or not.
