Penguins notebook: Hagelin, Crosby expected back by Tuesday

Coach Mike Sullivan spent the better part of Saturday reinforcing the Penguins’ team concept. The systems they want to play. The structure they want to have. Leading the team through game-like situations that are more prevalent during a regular season practice than a preseason one.

By Tuesday, the Penguins will take two more gigantic steps forward, as they enter the second week of preseason play. Sullivan said Saturday following separate workouts — basically an NHL/AHL split in groups — that Carl Hagelin should return Sunday, Sidney Crosby on Tuesday.

Hagelin, nursing an unspecified injury and skating on his own for the past couple days, played for Sweden in the World Cup of Hockey.
