Penguins notebook: Former Wheeling goalie now a backup in Montreal

Two years removed from being the Wheeling Nailers’ starting goaltender, Mike Condon began this season as the Montreal Canadiens backup.

“It really hasn’t sunk in still,” Condon said after his team’s morning skate Tuesday at Consol Energy Center. “I haven’t stopped to think about it yet. It’s been kind of a crazy two weeks in my life. Just very happy and fortunate for this opportunity and trying to make the most out of it.”

Condon, 25, spent the 2013-14 season with the Nailers, an ECHL team the Penguins used to share as an affiliate with the Canadiens.
