Penguins notebook: After long waits, Dupuis and Maatta back on the ice

The Penguins' first day of training camp at their Cranberry practice facility marked the first practices in several months for right winger Pascal Dupuis and defenseman Olli Maatta.

Dupuis had been sidelined since Nov. 15 because of a blood clot in his lung. Blood thinners prevented him from taking contact, and he was primarily limited to skating alone.

“I haven't been on the ice for a while with a group of guys that are on the same team,” Dupuis said. “It was exciting. It was fun to be out there. It's Day One, but it's a positive step.
