The Penguins have named Jacques Martin, 62, special assistant to the head coach, and changed his primary role.
Martin will now analyze games from the press box for coach Mike Johnston. Previously, Martin was used in a scouting role.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Martin told the team’s website. “I have a good relationship with the coaching staff and management. Being closer to the team and provide feedback, use my experience from over the years, just giving them another opinion.”
Last year Martin was tasked with pre-scouting opponents to help the coaching staff counteract strengths and tendencies.
