The Pittsburgh Penguins have named Andy O’Brien as the team’s Director of Sport Science and Performance and Andreas Hüppi as Sports Massage Therapist, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
O’Brien, 37, founder and president of O’Brien Sport in Canada, has built an outstanding reputation for training world-class athletes – from Olympic swimmer Dara Torres and Olympic figure skater Patrick Chan to Canadian women’s hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser and NHL standouts Sidney Crosby, John Tavares, Nathan MacKinnon and Matt Duchene. He also served as strength and conditioning coach of the Florida Panthers from 2005-2009.
