The Penguins have claimed goalie Mike Condon off waivers from Montreal.
Condon, 26, had a 21-25-6 record with the Canadiens last season, serving as Montreal's top goalie after Carey Price was injured.
The Penguins presumably were interested in Condon, who once played for their ECHL affiliate in Wheeling, because Matt Murray is recovering from a broken hand.
Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to be their No. 1 goalie while Murray's hand heals.
The Penguins have another goalie, Tristan Jarry, on their major-league roster, but he now is a candidate to be assigned to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre.
