Jason Botterill has company.
The ex-Penguins associate general manager on Monday poached the team’s former director of amateur scouting, Randy Sexton, bringing him north to Buffalo.
The move was widely expected — and reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette — but it became official Monday morning after the 2017 NHL Draft concluded.
Sexton will be an assistant general manager in Buffalo — along with Steve Greeley — and will be the GM of the American Hockey League’s Rochester Americans.
“Randy and I developed a positive working relationship during our time in Pittsburgh and I think his experience and insight will be advantageous for our front office,” Botterill, the Sabres general manager, said in a statement issued by a his new employer.
