When the 2023-24 season ended Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan and general manager Kyle Dubas discussed a potentially significant injury issue for Kris Letang that might require surgery. There was no real update on what the exact nature of the injury was and what was being impacted.
Now we have some idea.
The Penguins announced on Wednesday that Letang underwent successful surgery on his left finger and that he has a recovery timeline of just eight weeks.
Obviously an eight week timeline during the season would be a problem.
Eight weeks in the offseason is a lot more manageable.
