Penguins fall to Los Angeles Kings, 3-2

Los Angeles – Scoring chances in the NHL can be subjective. What a particular Western Conference team believes constitutes one could be not necessarily have the same meaning in the East.

Here, though, is something all 30 teams would agree on: If you don't generate shots on goal, you aren't going to generate very many scoring chances.

Such was life for the Penguins on Thursday at Staples Center during a 3-2 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings that snapped their four-game winning streak.

The Penguins endured several significant lulls and, a night after tilting the ice during the second period against the Ducks, totaled just three shots on goal in the second.
