The Calgary Flames, who entered the day in last place of the Pacific Division, snapped a seven-game losing streak and beat the Penguins, 4-2, today at Consol Energy Center.
The Penguins needed only 30 seconds to take a lead. Center Sidney Crosby corralled a puck in the Flames' right circle and ripped a shot which Flames goaltender Joni Ortio deflected away. It ricocheted off the end boards, into the crease and off Ortio's left skate. Flames center Sean Monahan attempted to clear the puck away from the goal line but had it bounce off Ortio's right skate. Penguins right winger Patric Hornqvist jabbed his stick at Ortio's right skate and directed the puck into the net to get credit for the goal.
