Penguins fall 5-2 to Capitals

WASHINGTON — The Penguins have had some memorable moments in their recent history at the expense of Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals.

Wednesday night, he got one back on them.

Ovechkin scored his 1,000th career point — and didn’t stop there — on a goal 35 seconds into the game as the Capitals cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Penguins.

Ovechkin said before the game he didn’t care which team he got his 1,000th career point against. He just wanted to get the milestone over with and move on.

He certainly didn’t take long.
