The Penguins and New York Rangers amassed a combined 17 power plays in Games 1 and 2 at Madison Square Garden to open this first-round Eastern Conference first-round series.
Monday night, both went 0 for 2 on the power play — a drastic drop in calls after a cacophony of special-teams play dominated the start of this series. Were there calls left on the ice Monday in the Rangers’ 2-1 victory at Consol Energy Center?
“Yeah, those are always tough situations for a coach to react to and say this one should’ve been called, that should’ve been called,” Penguins coach Mike Johnston said.
