The Penguins announced Friday afternoon that defenseman Zach Trotman underwent successful knee surgery.
The surgery was performed to repair a torn meniscus in Trotman’s right knee.
The team says that Dr. Hans Olsen performed the surgery at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Trotman is expected to be sidelined while recovering from the surgery for 4 to 6 weeks.
He appeared in 8 games for the Penguins last season.
In the AHL, Trotman played in 27 games, scoring 4 goals and 14 points.
Trotman is in the second year of a two-year contract, and as of now, he will become an unrestricted free agent following the 2020-21 season.
