Penguins defenseman Kris Letang is a finalist for the Masterton Trophy, which recognizes “sportsmanship, perseverance and dedication to hockey.”
Two goalies, Andrew Hammond of Ottawa and Minnesota’s Devan Dubnyk, are the other finalists.
Letang missed the final seven games of the regular season and all of the first-round playoff series against the New York Rangers because of a concussion from which he still is recovering.
He had 11 goals and 43 assists in 69 games before being injured — placing him behind only Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin in the team scoring race — and was regarded as a serious contender for the Norris Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s top defenseman.
