Penguins forward Eric Fehr said he didn’t have a rooting interest in Game 6 Sunday of the Washington-Philadelphia series.
He wasn’t hoping the Capitals would win, just to set up a semifinal meeting between his current team and the one for which he labored for parts of nine seasons.
Nor was he pulling for the Flyers to extend that series to a seventh game, simply to reduce the chances that he would end up in a no-quarters best-of-seven against some close friends.
“I’m just happy to be moving on,” Fehr said.
The Penguins made sure they’ll be doing that by eliminating the New York Rangers, 6-3, Saturday in Game 5 of an Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
