The Penguins re-signed a pair of restricted free agents in Josh Archibald and Derrick Pouliot to one-way contracts, the team announced Wednesday night.
Archibald’s deal runs for two years and is worth $675,000 at the NHL level. Pouliot gets $800,000 at the NHL level for his one-year deal.
Having a one-way contract means Archibald and Pouliot will make that amount regardless of whether they’re sent down to the American Hockey League, an incentive for the Penguins to keep them with the NHL club.
With the departures of defensemen Trevor Daley and Ron Hainsey on the back end, Pouliot could easily earn a top-six job, while Archibald figures to be in the mix as a bottom-six forward.
