LOS ANGELES — There was a time earlier this season when playing in the second half of a back-to-back was as good as a guaranteed loss for the Penguins.
But Thursday night, facing a physical Kings team that was off the night before, they answered the bell. The Penguins scored two unanswered goals in the third period to beat Los Angeles, 3-1, and bounce back from a loss against in Anaheim the night before.
Patric Hornqvist scored twice on the night, and Evgeni Malkin got the game-winner early in the third to give the Penguins their first win in Los Angeles since 2015.
