After the Penguins morning skate Saturday at PPG Paints Arena, assistant coach Jacques Martin held court with several Ottawa reporters, shifting between English and French and sharing a few laughs.
It's been 13 years since Martin has served as the Senators head coach, but he remains a popular man in Canada's capital.
Martin took over the Senators midway through the 1995 season, when they were 8-35-1. He led a turnaround that saw the modern-day Senators’ first trip to the postseason the follow season.
In 1997-98, Martin helped Ottawa post its first winning record at 34-33-15. He won the Jack Adams Award as the league's top coach in 1998-99.
