With center Eric Fehr and left winger Carl Hagelin each potentially returning to the lineup for Friday's road game against the Blue Jackets, the Penguins assigned left winger Conor Sheary to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
Sheary, 23, has appeared in 29 NHL games this season and has five points (two goals, three assists).
Fehr and Hagelin each participated in today's practice at Cranberry. Fehr has been sidelined 17 games due to an undisclosed injury. He described his status as “game-time decision” for Friday's contest.
Hagelin has missed the past two games after he struck his head off the ice during Saturday's 4-2 home loss to the Calgary Flames.
