The Penguins added a depth defenseman on Tuesday morning, announcing the signing of Kevin Czuczman to a one-year, two-way contract that’s worth $650,000 at the NHL level.
Czuczman spent last year with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League – the Winnipeg Jets’ affiliate – and produced the best offensive season of his career.
In 76 games, the 26-year-old Czuczman scored nine goals and produced 32 points.
Before that, Czuczman (6-2, 206), Czuczman spent the bulk of the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the New York Islanders’ system.
The Port Elgin, Ontario native signed with the Islanders as an undrafted free agent out of Lake Superior State and produced two assists in 13 games at the NHL level back in 2013-14.
