LOS ANGELES -- The Penguins have bolstered their bottom-six forwards by acquiring veteran Patrick Marleau from San Jose.
The trade call to confirm the deal still is pending, but the Penguins are expected to send a third-round draft choice to the Sharks for him.
Jim Rutherford, who negotiated the deal with San Jose, was not immediately available to discuss it.
Marleau, 40, is primarily a left winger, but also can play center.
He has 10 goals and 10 assists in 58 games this season, while averaging about 15 1/2 minutes of playing time per game.
