Right about the time Penguins fans were getting over the loss to the Capitals, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s own Stephen Nesbitt decided to rub a little salt in the wound.
In Pittsburgh, we’re spoiled. Our teams seem to win a lot more than many other cities, so we manage to bury these painful memories. Nesbitt’s story got me to thinking about whether that 1993 Penguins loss was the worst upset suffered by a Pittsburgh team in my lifetime as a sports fan (let’s say since 1980). I’ve come to the conclusion that it is, but hear me out before you argue.
