The goal for the Penguins should be and is to repeat as Stanley Cup champions — not to win the Presidents' Trophy for having the best regular season — and that’s an important thing to remember in light of the news of Sidney Crosby’s concussion.
Crosby might have to miss a few games, and that’s OK. If the Penguins are going to repeat as champions, their best friend is going to be rest. That’s especially true with Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Chris Kunitz, Phil Kessel and even guys like Trevor Daley. That would be the 30-somethings — or in the case of Crobsy and Kessel, the almost-30-somethings — and that is going to be especially true given the Penguins’ style of play.
