Patrik Allvin to play key role for Penguins in upcoming NHL draft

Preparing for the NHL draft is no small task. It’s the culmination of a yearlong effort involving countless games watched, countries frequented, players and coaches met and meetings held.

For Patrik Allvin, this year anyway, that’s only half the story.

Entering his first draft as the Penguins director of amateur scouting, Allvin, 43, also has been orchestrating a family move from Falun, Sweden, to a new home in Detroit.

“We’re really looking forward to moving over,” Allvin said.

Take a look at Allvin’s résumé — nearly two decades on the scouting side, the past 13 years spent occupying various roles for the Penguins — and consider the success the organization has experienced in his tenure, and there’s little reason to doubt Allvin’s ability to transition.
