On this date in Penguins history: Jake saves the day in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final

Seven years ago today, Jake Guentzel was the hero for the Penguins in Game 1 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.

The Penguins scored three first-period goals in just over four minutes, going from a tied 0-0 game to a 3-0 lead.

Then things seemingly came to a halt for the Penguins on an offensive front.

Ryan Ellis got the Predators on the board. Colton Sissons drew back within one. And then Frederick Gaudreau tied things up at 3-3, all while the Penguins couldn’t seem to get a shot on goal.

The Penguins actually went a full 37 minutes of game time without a shot on goal until Jake Guentzel shot.
